Pantone has announced the color of the year, and I am having a (perhaps undue) emotional response. What’s the color? Fucking purple.
Don’t get me wrong. I love purple. I liked emerald a lot, but I think purple is absolutely wonderful. I’m freaking out because I totally saw this coming. I’m sure I have it on record somewhere: I knew a nice, trendy, slightly muted purple was going to be the trendy-color-of-the-year sometime really soon. I absolutely knew it.
I’m even 80% sure I’ve tweeted about this, but I can’t be bothered to go back and find proof. Just trust me, y’all. I was way ahead of this “radiant orchid” situation.
I mean, before That Girl Magazine’s most recent redesign, purple was one of my brand colors! I had a specific purple that I used for everything! Right now I don’t really have that because I’m in this weird photo-oriented blog design anarchist phase, but the links are still purple because I knew purple was trendy before anybody else, okay??
I’m a fucking color psychic.
Anyway, I really like purple, so I’m excited that this totally arbitrary shade has been selected by the good people Pantone (up on their mysterious Mount Olympus of color trends). Let’s celebrate.
Let the record show that I predict a light lemon yellow will be the color of the year sometime before 2017. Other applications of my newfound psychic abilities include:
